Nutrition & Health with Gate 15 in Human Design

human design gate 15 nutrition liver health

Gate 15 is a powerful force for personal timing and extremes in routines. It's a design of being in your personal flow. Because it’s Collective circuitry, people with this channel can pull whomever it's around into its powerful rhythm.

My son has channel 5-15, with gate 15.4 as his SQ in gene keys (unconscious Venus). I definitely feel how his personal sense of timing impacts the entire family. I only have gate 5, which is about fixed routines and rhythms, but because my son has the full channel, and I only have half, it's considered a Compromise energy between us — his personal timing and extreme rhythm trump my fixed rhythm when we're together.

How I've observed this compromise dynamic in real life is that I feel really thrown off from my personal routines and timing when I'm in his presence, especially if our routines are colliding. My timing and his timing often do not match. I can tell my son also feels thrown out of his personal timing because he senses me revolting against his strong rhythm. When the 5-15 is thrown out of their timing, they are energetically out of balance, and for my Manifesting Generator son, this manifests as frustration and anger.

I have a lot to say about this Compromise dynamic, but let's save that for another article and dive into gate 15 and liver health!

Gate 15's Inherent Energetic Traits

Gate 15 is the Gate of Extremes. This energy influences someone inwardly and also has impact outwardly at a collective level.

Inwardly, it's about embracing your own extremes and having acceptance of your different, changing ways. You’re not here to be consistent. It's quite normal to have very extreme behavior, mannerisms, routine, and rituals. Gate 15 is about allowing the priorities in your life to shift from one extreme to the next with radical self-acceptance.

Outwardly facing, you're here to emanate a love for diversity within humanity. The more you embrace your extremes, the more you’re able to embrace the diverseness in all of humanity. If you don’t embrace your own extremes and diversity, it’s harder to embody the love of diverseness. When you are being yourself, it generates love and acceptance in the world. This is a very inclusive energy.

In the highest expression, you’re teaching people that it’s ok to be who you are, and it's ok to be different and uniquely you, and we don't have to be all the same!

This energy is leadership energy and an entrepreneurial vibe. In a work environment, it's ideal to be able to vary the diversity in your day, and not be on a strict or rigid schedule. Trying to be consistent can dwindle your self-love, which hinders your ability to love diversity.

Gate 15's Shadow of Dullness

The low expression of gate 15 is DULLNESS. This shadow will manifest when your human spirit feels low. Pay attention to what creates shifts in your attitude and how you are interpreting this and holding it within your being. It's our attitude towards life that creates this dullness. What are you identifying with that is making your life dull? Can you shift your perspective in order to move from dullness to magnetism?

If you have gate 15, it's quite possible you've picked up conditioning regarding your extremes, in whatever way they show up in your life. Have you been made to believe your extremes are not ok or acceptable? In order to get back into your divine personal flow of life, I want you to start to embrace your extremes, and also notice when your self-talk becomes judgmental about your personal timing and extremes.

Gate 15's Gift of Magnetism

This gift is your body's inner barometer to frequencies that allow us to slow down. This is all about trusting the ebb and flow of life events, and accepting the ordinary. When you embrace that, dullness is no longer dull. This gift makes a person physically glow with life force, making them magnetic.

If someone is doing damage to their liver, either through using drugs, alcohol, or abusing prescription medications, this will destroy this gift of magnetism. Remember, gate15 is located in your Identity center, where your heart, soul, and higher self resides.

Gate 15 and Circulation in Human Design

The G Center's physiology is the liver and blood, and gate 15 is associated with the right lobe of the Liver, so LIVER health is a priority here! Liver is the grand central station of the body. It filters our blood, which carries nutrients and oxygen to every organ and cell in the body.

Circulation and movement are huge themes for someone with gate 15. If you feel stuck or blocked, mentally or physically, move your body and everything else moves too. I recommend prioritizing lymphatic massage, yoga, trampolining, gua sha, and any other type of activity that supports the lymphatic system. Move the rhythm that wants to come out through you.

Gate 15, Identity, and Direction in Life

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the liver is said to be the “energy of the personality" because it's largely responsible for the vital energy that flows through the body. It has a direct influence on a person's emotional state, creativity, and sense of direction and purpose in life. An imbalance or stagnation of liver energy can lead to emotional disturbances, irritability, frustration, and a sense of feeling stuck or lacking direction.

Drinking alcohol has a negative impact on the liver and worsens with long-term and excessive consumption. Alcoholism can rob a person of their identity, and is very dangerous for direction in life and for love in life - both self-love and relationships with others.

During phases that undefined G's are navigating or doubting love/directions/identity, it might impact the liver function.

Gate 15 and Liver Detoxification

One of the liver's most important jobs is detoxification, which involves removing harmful substances or toxins from the body to keep it safe. The liver detoxifies waste, chemicals, toxins, medications, alcohol, drugs, and hormones. It also aids in digesting food and emotions.

If toxins aren’t adequately eliminated through the bowels, the toxins will be reabsorbed and recirculate through the bloodstream and attempt to escape through another waste organ – like the skin! This can cause acne, and liver disease may be an underlying association for migraine pain. You don't want to push detoxification if you aren't pooping every day!

3 Nutrition Priorities for Gate 15

In my professional opinion as a dietitian, focus on these three things to optimize Liver health.

#1: IMPROVE DETOXIFICATION

You must consume a diet high in the nutrients that support both phase 1 and phase 2 of liver detoxification. In addition, reduce your exposure to toxins that make the liver work on overdrive.

#2: DECREASE RISK OF NON-ALCOHOLIC FATTY LIVER DISEASE

This liver condition impacts 45% of adults and 25% of children! The cause is from consuming excessive amounts of sugar, refined carbohydrates, and fructose from high fructose corn syrup.

#3: LIMIT ALCOHOL INTAKE

If you have gate 15, how does your body handle alcohol consumption? Is alcohol consumption impacting your direction in life? How does alcohol impact your love in life, from both a perspective of love for yourself and love for others? Do you drink to cope with extremes in life or to cope with judgement from others about your extremes?

7 Nutrients to Support Liver Detoxification

Based on a ton of research, here are seven nutrients/foods that support liver health & detox.

#1: ANTIOXIDANT-CONTAINING FOODS

Eating foods high in antioxidants can help protect liver cells and support their proper functioning. Include foods like berries, green tea, citrus fruits, nuts, seeds, and turmeric. The liver loves foods high in vitamin A, vitamin E, and selenium.

#2: SPROUTS AND CRUCIFEROUS VEGETABLES

If I was trapped on a deserted island and could choose the best detox food, my top choice is broccoli sprouts! All types of sprouts, especially broccoli, are amazing for supporting the liver's detoxification processes.

In addition, I highly recommend including a cruciferous vegetable in your diet everyday. If you aren't able to do that, eat them as often as you can. These foods are rich in sulfur which is required for synthesizing glutathione and other detoxification enzymes.

Examples of cruciferous vegetables: broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, cabbage, bok choy, radishes, arugula, turnips, watercress, collard & mustard greens, kohlrabi, and rutabaga.

#3: GLUTATHIONE or N-ACETYL CYSTEINE (NAC)

Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant made by the liver. It helps protect liver cells from damage caused by toxins and it's crucial for detoxification by binding to and removing toxins from the body. If the body has a high toxicity burden, the amount of glutathione the liver can produce often isn't enough.

N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) is also an antioxidant and the cysteine is necessary to produce glutathione. Taking an NAC supplement supports the production and maintenance of optimal glutathione levels in the body.

Taking supplemental glutathione or NAC can help assist the liver's detoxification processes. The stomach doesn't absorb glutathione very well, so it's ideal to take glutathione in the form of liposomal glutathione, and these are two of my favorite brands (Designs for Health and Quicksilver Scientific). I also like Thorne, and approve of this NAC.

#4: B VITAMINS

B vitamins, particularly B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B6 (pyridoxine), B9 (folate), and B12 (cobalamin), are involved in various liver functions, including detoxification.

#5: MAGNESIUM

Magnesium is involved in various enzymatic reactions in the liver, including those related to detoxification. It's also necessary for making glutathione.

#6: MILK THISTLE

The active ingredient in milk thistle is called silymarin. It is an antioxidant that helps protect liver cells from damage and can reduce inflammation in the liver, which supports overall liver health and function. Milk thistle is believed to support phase 2 liver detox, which is the process of neutralizing and eliminating toxins from the body.

#7: SCHISANDRA BERRY

I personally love using the adaptogen, Schisandra berry, to promote liver health, support liver cell regeneration, and enhance the liver's ability to detoxify harmful compounds. After trying a handful of different brands and forms, I love Nature's Answer Schisandra Extract without any alcohol.

Do you have gate 15? Do you relate to having extremes, living extreme, or being extreme? Do you have any concerns about your liver?

I would love to hear from you.

Much love,

Kelly

Human Design Appointments

Re-conditioning yourself requires long-term dedication to learning and experimenting with your human design. I've learned so much through the process of researching, observing myself, observing others, experimenting, and repeating that cycle over and over.

I believe growth requires more than one appointment, which is why I offer an initial appointment (90 minutes) with a follow-up appointment (60 minutes).

If you think a one time appointment is more ideal for you, I also offer that option.
